Erik D. Stickney, M.D.

Dr. Erik Stickney is a board-certified radiation oncologist with extensive experience in advanced radiation techniques. His training includes stereotactic radiosurgery, brachytherapy and adaptive radiation therapy, which allows treatment plans to be adjusted in real time to account for changes in a patient’s anatomy or condition.

Raised by a nurse and hematologist oncologist, Dr. Stickney developed a strong sense of duty at a young age, further shaped by generations of military service. A combat veteran and retired U.S. Army Medical Corps Major, he served in Afghanistan and was awarded the Bronze Star in 2011. During 13 years of active service, he honed his adaptability, responsiveness and commitment to serving others — qualities that serve him well in the clinic. He enjoys getting to know his patients, taking the time to answer their questions and ensuring they have a clear understanding of their diagnosis and treatment options.

Originally from Southern California, Dr. Stickney was drawn to Reno for its proximity to the Sierra Nevada mountains and his family on the West Coast. He is proud to serve our community and excited to explore the region’s outdoor opportunities. After hours, you can find him spending time with his wife, backpacking, learning to fly fish or catching up with his four kids—three of whom are following in his footsteps in the U.S. military.
